Why UseTrans-Lube Lubesticks?
The Trans-Lube lubestick is a dry lubricant designed to reduce friction between metal surfaces, such as wheel flanges and railheads. Unlike traditional lubricants, our lubestick can withstand high temperatures and harsh conditions, making it ideal for industrial applications. By using the Trans-Lube lubestick, you can significantly reduce wear and tear on crane wheel flanges and railheads, ultimately extending the life of your equipment and reducing maintenance costs.
Step-by-Step Application Process
1
Determine the Number of Applicators Needed
For a typical crane with dual-flanged wheels, you'll need 8 applicators (2 per wheel). Ensure you have the correct number of applicators for your crane setup.
2
Prepare the Lubricant Sticks
Keep a supply of lubricant sticks within easy reach, ideally stored within the crane's bumper. This ensures maintenance personnel can quickly refill applicators without needing to leave the crane.
3
Install the Applicators
Mount the applicators on the crane according to the provided drawings. These drawings are tailored for major crane brands, ensuring compatibility with your equipment. Remember, you need one applicator per flange.
4
Fill the Applicators
Each applicator holds 1½ sticks of lubricant. Break a stick if necessary to fit. Ensure the applicator is full to maintain tight spring pressure against the flange.
5
Trim and Fit the Lubricant Sticks
On initial installation, use a knife to trim the square end of the stick to match the wheel flange's shape. Trimming helps achieve quicker and more effective lubrication with the first stick. Trimming is not necessary beyond the first stick.
6
Monitor and Adjust the Applicators
For the first month, check the aim of the applicators weekly. They should be aimed downward at the very outside edge of the wheel flange, not near the curve or middle.
7
Incorporate into Maintenance Schedule
Add lubricant applicator monitoring to your monthly crane inspection checklist. This ensures continuous lubrication and optimal performance.
Benefits of Using theTrans-Lube Lubestick
Extended Equipment Life
Regular lubrication reduces wear on wheel flanges and railheads.
Cost Savings
By preventing excessive wear, you'll reduce the frequency of expensive repairs and replacements and keep cranes in service longer.
Improved Safety
Proper lubrication minimizes the risk of equipment failure, enhancing operational safety.
